Professional Audio Recording and Mixing
Hello! My name is Dereck Blackburn and I am an audio engineer and musician in the Boston Metro area. I’ve been recording, mixing and mastering music for almost 20 years.
I’ve worked with a host of amazing artists and engineers: Imogen Heap, Carsick Cars, Sidewave, Husbands, Windmills, Idle Pilot, and most recently Lost Dog and Kipsey. I have also received hands on training with Steve Albini, Andrew Wallace, Sylvia Massey, and Andrew Scheps.
I started my career as a Mastering Engineer but quickly realized I was far more interested in experimenting with sound in the recording studio. I’ve been a freelance audio engineer for over 15 years but I mostly work out of my own studio: Quiethouse Recording.
Due to flexibility in budgets and costs varying by studio I have a minimum day rate I require to start work but I try to accommodate any artist who wants to work together.
I’m looking for mostly rock and pop bands who are passionate about their music and songwriting while I take care of making them sound amazing.
